Enhancing Practice 2012, is a practice development conference being held in Sydney from 31st October till the 2nd November.
What is practice development? Well just take a look at how it helped us become the best emergency department in the world1
Practice development is all about empowering nurses to integrate best practice and evidenced based practice into their workplace.
But more importantly it is about working as a team to transform cultures of care.
Over my career as a nurse, the one thing I have learned more than anything else is that with the right tools, the right support and a bit of space and time, a team of clinical nurses ( or even better, a unit team) can solution design any problem or issue.
Oh yes, I like practice development.
I like it a lot.
The Conference “aims to present a program which is participative, innovative, stimulating, thought-provoking and enriching by offering networking and learning opportunities to new and experienced, parishioners, practice developers, facilitators, educators, researchers and policy makers”.
It will be exploring themes around embedding practice development, ethical considerations and using innovative approaches amongst others.
The program is still being developed, but you can check out the conference website here.
I would love to hear of any other nurses experiences using practice development within their own workspace.
- IMHO. Of course I’m happy to listen to you argue the point! [↩]
