The above music clip is Australian icon Paul Kelly performing Leaps and Bounds at the Rockwood Music Hall, NYC, NY, March 7, 2012.

The reason I am showing you this is to put into musical contextification the email I received from Jacinta today.
Just wanted to share with you my current pain with learning ECGs. To
give my concentration a break I’ve written
new lyrics to the tune of Paul Kelly’s song Leaps and Bounds. I call
it “I check leads and frown”.
That’s the spirit Jacinta, combining study and art.
So now you know the tune, here are the new lyrics (and now I cant get them out of my head. Thanks a LOT):
I’m stuck in Resus
looking over the fuss
at an ECG
and in my little brain
contemplating the waves
which ones are the P’s?
Don’t remember
don’t remember
VF and VT
cannot fool me
they are shockable
but an inverted T
expressed electrically
it it reciprocal?
don’t remember
don’t remember
I check leads and frown
I check leads and frown
Up on the monitor
there’s lines and blips and pings
I wish this patient
would just wake up now and sing
Wave is asystole
its obvious to me
my interpretation
if it differs from that
might as well be all flat
beyond my comprehension
don’t remember
don’t remember
I check leads and frown
