A driver evading police ran a red light and killed a woman crossing the road outside Canberra Hospital late yesterday.
Another female pedestrian was injured and was reported last night to be in a stable condition.

Our thoughts go out to the family and colleagues of this member of our healthcare community, and to our incredible emergency department staff who despite such an awful situation provided professional care to the driver and maintained a quality level of emergency medical service to the public.

I’m just stunned as I have worked with Linda and Ashlee’s Mum for many years. When you read about these accidents you are horrified, but when it turns out to be people you know it is just sickening…really makes you re evaluate your own life. Very proud of the Ed Staff for holding their own and caring for all those involved and for all the Hospital Staff who remained proffessional in a somewhat sad and trying time. Let’s hope this a One Off !!!
My sincere condolences to the family and friends our our valued and respected colleague at TCH.
My appreciation and admiration to our ED and hospital colleagues who responded to a devastating scene.
Life is precious and unpredictable, lets continue to support eachother through trying times.
Oh Ian! So very sorry for the loss of your colleague.
Ian, thoughts are with you and your staff – it’s never easy working on one of your own, and a true testament to the professionalism of the staff at Canberra Hospital.
